Cockpit Plug Replacement
Nearly all plugs were lifted, gone or compromised by water penetration. Water had typically rusted the head of the boat nail, lifting the plug. We replaced all plugs after first resetting the nails, cleaning the holes, treating the nail heads with corroseal, then filling with a high penetration epoxy mixture (20% dilution). The setting paste was epoxy plus wood powder, mixed to a peanut butter consistency.
