New batteries
Lifeline group 31 absorbing glass mat batteries were used. These batteries are sealed, and are all located under the master cabin sole. At 105 amp hours each, 4 in parallel serve as the house bank. The house bank has a off/on switch only. The engine has two batteries controlled by a 1/2/all/off switch. The systems have a common ground, but are only connected by a charge combiner. Battery weight is reduced by about 1/2, and it is now all forward of the engine. In all more than 1000 pounds was discarded in electrical gear. Two additional batteries will be installed under the galley sole to help drive a planned windlass. |
