Sealing the deck at the foremast
After "corking", the cotton is sealed and the teak primed to accept the rubber. with a Detco product. After sealing, you will have a pretty tight and water proof deck. However, water that gets into the seams will run downhill to the unfinished area, creating bigger leaks elswhere. The big mess can't be helped. Once done, the natural action of salt water and sun on the teak will clean the surface. Nothing sticks to teak for very long, not even this specially designed primer. We are hoping that the complete redo of the deck will be effective for at least 10 years. |
