DirigoSailing

Main sail traveler

The previous travelers were galvanized 1 inch rod, traversed by shackles. After struggling with several less expensive alternatives, I finally purchased 1 inch stainless rod and the biggest sail head fittings I could find. We had 1 inch rollers machined, and fitted the clevis pin with a sleave bearing. The rubber is from a Goodyear blank, turned on a lathe. These are unique pieces, with only seat-of-the-pants engineering. This piece took several unplanned jibes on the trip to California, and is none the worse for wear, so far.
